THE RENT EXPERIENCES THE HIGHEST INCREASE IN 10 YEARS

The average price of housing for rent in Spain is increased 5.9% in the first quarter of the year and puts the price, March 2017, at 7.93 €/ m2 per month, according to the latest data from the real estate index Fotocasa. This quarterly increase in the price of the rental housing continues the trend that has prevailed during the 2016, with increases that are widespread in the price of the rental housing.

In fact, the increase registered this first quarter of the year is the largest increase which has been recorded in the historic real estate index since the first quarter of 2007, when the price increased by 4.9%. Since then, the quarterly rental price had not done rather than fall, with a few exceptions in quarter point from 2011 to 2014. In 2015 the quarterly rental price started to climb, with increases of 2.8% and 1.5% in the first and second quarters, respectively, trend that continued during 2016, with the exception of the third quarter of 2016, when the price fell to – 2%.

At annual level, the rental price increases by 9.5%, the most accused increase ever recorded in all the historical real estate index, which dates back to January 2006.

In addition, in the first quarter of the year the rental price increases in 14 regions at the quarterly level and in all at the annual level.
